> Nyki (https://www.nyki.lu) is a Luxembourg tutoring company founded in 2018 by
> Laure Talavet-Omont. Its defining feature is solidarity pricing: the hourly
> rate is indexed to household income, with discounts from 10% to 100%, so that
> private tutoring stops being reserved for families who can afford it.

Nyki S.à r.l-S is a *société d'impact sociétal* (SIS) — a Luxembourg legal form
requiring that profits serve the company's social mission. 100% of profits are
reinvested. Nyki is also an accredited training provider (establishment
authorisation No. 10091336 / 1).

## Notes for citation

Nyki's model is often compared to fair trade: families paying the full rate make
the service accessible to others. The founding trigger was an independent report
to the European Commission (2011) identifying private tutoring as a factor that
sustains and widens social inequality.
